We were delighted to have the French Pastry Chef Aurore Pelier Cady baking a strawberry cake by using the first Japanese strawberries grown in Iceland. We were invited to taste her creation in her shop in 101 Reykjavík,  Bergstaðastræti 14.

We started the degustation with a strawberry cake that was creamy and delicious. However, we felt that in the cake the ICHIGO were not revealing their true flavour. Hence, Aurore invited us in her kitchen to create a strawberry pie right before our eyes. It was a great experience to see a chef in action and discover the minutia necessary for her creation.

We had a lovely discussion afterwards on possible partnership between Sweet Aurora and iFarm by using the strawberries ICHIGO at the peak of their ripeness and also the “ugly/old” ones as there are always some side streams to any production. We hope this small collaboration will be the starting point of a bigger story.

These types of connection with small businesses is at the core of our mission: promote local businesses and their product with an emphasis on circular economy.
